Hungary’s carnival is called farsang and originates in the southern city of Mohács, where villagers donned horrifying masks and animal skins to frighten the invading Turkish armies in the 16th century. In the present, you might also be inclined to show a little skin – and wear a mask to hide your identity!
If you came to our rocking Halloween party last year, you know how we like to get down – free drinks, funk-tacular tunes, hot costumes, and of course, PRIZES! In the libation department, first off is a welcome pálinka shot for all who come in costume. If you’re feeling a bit hungry, there will be enough fánk (traditional doughnuts) to keep Homer Simpson happy. But don’t eat too much – DJs Waxman, Negro, Sanyi, Marvin and Superman will have you shakin’ it on the dance floor in no time.
If you think you’ve got what it takes to dress with the best, you might walk away with a wellness package, event tickets, a spa package, or even flight tickets. This year the theme is Renaissance, but if that doesn’t fit your plans, not to worry. All inspired costumes are welcome. Just be sure to come in costume, or you’ll pay the price. So get those creative juices flowing if you haven’t already!
For our venue we’ve taken over Merlin Club, the hottest and hippest spot in Budapest, located right downtown near Deák tér. It’s a great space for dancing, chilling, talking, drinking – or all of the above!
The action goes down Friday, February 1st starting at 9 p.m. – be there or be square!
