Gone But Not Forgotten

As I was clearing away the paper clutter gathered during the week, I just saw an issue of USA Today from last week. At the back was an article that Dan Fogelberg had passed away. This may mean little to you if you are not of my generation - but Dan Fogelberg is (was) part of mine - so the news was startling.

It did get me on a slightly morbid but more unreflective search on who else from among the famous had departed over the past year. Not seeing the daily US news, sometime there are startling revelations. Did you know Beverly Sills died last year? I didn't. So did Don Ho and Liz Clairborn.

If I've also succeeded in raising your morbid curiosity then here is the complete list (minus Dan Fogelberg) for the year 2007.

Beauty Tip

Calendula Infused Soy Oil

Ingredients
1/2 cup dried calendula flowers
3/4 to 1 cup organic soybean oil
Vitamin E oil
Orange essence oil

Instructions:
Place flowers in an 8-ounce Mason jar; pour in soybean oil until jar is nearly full. Drizzle with Vitamin E oil and mix with a wooden stirrer. Seal jar tightly.

Place in a paper bag or cool, dark cupboard for at least two weeks to let herbs infuse the oil. With a wire mesh strainer, strain oil into a sterilized jar. Strain again through a cheesecloth or coffee filter.

Drizzle finished oil with 2 to 3 drops orange essence oil, if desired.

The following list of on-line cookie recipes was making the circuits a few years back in Christmas mailers. I was fascinated by it then and still am so I thought I would share it with those of you who love cookies.
