September 28, 2007. I'm fortunate enough to live just blocks away from a great neighborhood 'piac' at Hunyadi Ter. Fresh produce begins to arrive in the small hours of the morning and the outside vendors are already selling at 6 a.m. while the indoor stalls open at 7 a.m. The freshness of what you buy is not the only benefit to a piac, it is the mood, the feel of a neighborhood. In the case of Hunyadi the district had decided to do away with it without a vote from the community.
Treehugger Dan's is a used book and coffee shop on the Ter and they care about the future of the Piac and the neighborhood. If you are in this area, come by to shop at the piac, visit Dan's and see if you can help.
