Hearty Food and Good Service

haxen.jpg
In the somewhat bleak downtown on Kiraly utca, where you would least expect to find such a gem is the Haxen King Restaurant.

Take the trolley and it deposits you virtually in front of the restaurant. It is a non-pretentious, rustic setting where you will enjoy hearty, flavorful food presented in a way that also pleases the eyes.

As tempting as it may be, do not get full eating the piping hot onion bread that arrives before your meal. The best is yet to come.

A good selection of fish and fowl but their specialty is the hog knuckle - and if you happen to love it, there is no better place to eat it in the city.

An good selection of wines and palinkas are also on hand to accompany the great food. The restaurant also has a daily menu (2 or 3 courses) that is priced well for the quality.

Reservations are advised for evening dining.

The following list of on-line cookie recipes was making the circuits a few years back in Christmas mailers. I was fascinated by it then and still am so I thought I would share it with those of you who love cookies.
