Of the many times I've walked along Budapest and saw something that I wanted to share - I finally decided to do just that. What follows are glimpses along life's path that had touched my heart. I hope you receive them as they are given - Enjoy!

October 5, 2007. Fall is slowly creeping up on Andrassy ut. Most of the leaves are still green but there is an unmistakable carpet of leaves beginning to appear on the grand lady of Budapest boulevards. Comment?

October 1, 2007. After a lazy start yesterday, we did make it out to the Etyek Kezes-Labos wine festival. What a perfect fall day to spend in the country with good friends, food and wines. ment?

October 2, 2007. Fall is coming, there is no doubt and there can't be too many days left such as we've been enjoying. Yesterday was a terrific opportunity to grab a bottle of our favorite libation and find a vacant bench on Margaret Island. Comment?

October 3, 2007. Work progressed all summer on the remodeling of a residential building by the Octogon that had been acquired by the familiar orange easyHotel (of easyJet fame). The hotel officially opened its doors to guests on October 1, 2007. Official opening ceremony and press conference today. Stay tuned for indoor photos. Comment?

October 4, 2007. The statue of Anonymous in City Park is a favorite with visitors and the shiny spots on the statue attest to that. Here he is up-close, looking as mysterious as ever under the shades of some ancient trees. Comment?

September 20, 2007. All capital cities fight traffic - Budapest is no different. Authorities are encouraging drivers to use existing Park & Ride facilities at the edge of the city and use public transportation downtown. You can see why.

September 21, 2007. The excitement of anticipating a special dinner guest! Everything has to be just so and well timed. The guest was on time and hungry and it made for a perfect beginning of a wonderful reunion.

September 22, 2007. New construction with patina. Among the many newly built structures throughout the downtown area, some builders made the effort to carry some of the old into their new design. This is the case with the facade of the Helena House on Káldy Gyula utca in the VI. district.

September 23, 2007. White table cloth, roses and orchids in the centerpiece, candles and low murmur for conversation. The September wine tasting dinner at the Corinthia Grand Hotel Royal was the usual lavish affair that the hotel had become famous for accompanied by the fine wines of Hungary's wine producing regions.

September 24, 2007. There are many ornate decorations left throughout the city testifying to its former splendor. One such witness is on the door of the this establishment on Marvany utca.

September 25, 2007. Pest is mostly flat and there are generous number of sites for people to see - so renting a bicycle for that purpose makes sense. One of the places you may do that is by the West End City Center shopping mall on the Vaci ut side.

September 27, 2007. LOMTALANITAS, or large trash removal, arrived for the 6th district in the current year. Although trash is actually being picked up on Saturday, some people are getting a head start. This is still a great deal better from 5-6 years ago when the district pick-up was in August and the week prior the LOM began to gather along both sides of the street. If that were not bad enough, all night there were people tinkering, hammering away, making their way from pile-to-pile to find the treasure among the trash. A true Budapest still life.

September 19, 2007. Thought I'd share with you my fun companions - Butyok and Gigi as they enjoy the terrace. Occasionally, they disagree but for the most part they get along quite well. Makes for a happy coexistence in closed quarters.

September 18, 2007. Visited a childhood friend in the burbs and while I like a manicured lawn, there is something so real about her garden. What is even more amazing is that she knows exactly what grows on each square inch. An adventure as well as a visual delight. Enjoy!

September 17, 2007. The symbolic national bird of Hungary - the turul - perched upon a column by the gates of the Royal Palace on the Buda hill, completely unaware of the fact that it is ebroiled in a political battle and may soon be outlawed. You may want to take a look while you can.

September 16, 2007. Here is a breathtaking view of Budapest from the garden of the US Marine House on Buda hill. It seems to be a befitting first photo for this photo blog of this wonderful city. Visit again for a new, personal view of Budapest each day.

September 26, 2007. Among my photos from Venice, Italy is a shot taken at a market of wine labels of some famous and some infamous characters. Hungary is not to be outdone. This week-end I've seen these bottles on the shelves of a local supermarket on the corner of Vaci ut and Csanady u.

September 29, 2007. A full moon over the Budapest sky last night reminded me of the movie Moonstruck with Cher and Nicholas Cage. Believe me, I've looked for them, but found only this strange and eerie sight.
